Our Approach
A Reflective Oral History Approach
Twilight Trails & Beyond, Co. brings together elements of narrative life review, personal oral history interviewing, oral history methods, and qualitative inquiry.
Traditional oral history often focuses on documenting experiences and events. Life review explores how those experiences are remembered, interpreted, and understood across time. By bringing these approaches together, participants are invited not only to tell their stories but also to reflect upon the meaning they hold.
The goal is not to evaluate a life, resolve every question, or arrive at definitive conclusions. Instead, this work creates space for thoughtful exploration, careful listening, and deeper understanding. Every story is approached with curiosity, dignity, and respect.
How We Work
At Twilight Trails & Beyond, Co., conversation is approached as a form of curiosity and exploration.

The questions asked are designed to encourage reflection, invite storytelling, and create opportunities to notice connections that may not have been apparent before. Some participants focus on significant life events, while others explore family history, personal values, work experiences, relationships, or important transitions.

The pace is unhurried. Silence is welcomed when needed. Stories are allowed to unfold in their own way.

Rather than focusing only on what happened, the process also invites consideration of what those experiences have come to mean over time.
Often, understanding emerges not from having the right answers, but from having the opportunity to tell the story and hear it in a new way.

About Adeline
Adeline Burkett, MA, M.S. Ed., is the founder of Twilight Trails & Beyond, Co., where she guides individuals through Narrative Life Review and Personal Oral History Interviews. Her work is grounded in the belief that every life contains experiences, relationships, and turning points worthy of reflection, understanding, and thoughtful documentation.

Drawing upon oral history methods, life review scholarship, narrative inquiry, and qualitative research, Adeline creates a welcoming space for people to explore the stories that have shaped their lives.
Through guided conversation and reflective inquiry, she helps participants examine meaningful experiences, recognize recurring themes, and gain deeper insight into the values, relationships, and moments that have influenced their personal journey.

Her background includes oral history interviewing, archival transcription, independent field research, end-of-life support, and doctoral research focused on narrative meaning-making and life review. These experiences have strengthened her appreciation for the power of listening and for the ways people make sense of their lives through story.

Adeline's approach is thoughtful, respectful, and unhurried. Rather than seeking to simplify a life into conclusions, she believes in creating space for complexity, reflection, and discovery. Every story is approached with curiosity, dignity, and the understanding that meaning often emerges through the act of telling it.
